India, Sept. 16 -- The Jammu and Kashmir government has ordered the eviction of occupants from several properties built on Nazool, or state, land in Srinagar, citing expired leases and the absence of valid renewal or extension orders.

The properties facing eviction notices include commercial and other establishments in prime areas such as Polo View near Lal Chowk, Rajbagh and Karan Nagar.

Among those served an eviction notice is the iconic white building of the Mohi-ud-Din Trust at Polo View. The order issued by the Office of the Assistant Commissioner Nazool/Estates Officer, Srinagar, directs the Trust to vacate the premises and hand over possession by September 21.
