Srinagar, July 31 -- Srinagar- The Jammu and Kashmir government has approved Rs 6.59 crore for the conservation and upgradation of the historic Imambara Zadibal in Srinagar.

The announcement was made through Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's official X handle.

The project aims to preserve the heritage character of the centuries-old religious site while improving essential facilities for devotees and visitors, officials said.

The conservation component will focus on safeguarding the historic architecture of the Imambara, while the upgradation works will seek to improve amenities for visitors, particularly during religious gatherings.
