Srinagar, Sept. 30 -- Srinagar- The Jammu and Kashmir government has said that 528 drug-awareness programmes were conducted across the Union Territory up to August this year, while 21 Addiction Treatment Facilities (ATFs) are currently operational in the two divisions.

The details were shared by the government in a written reply to a question raised by MLA Sham Lal Sharma regarding the growing challenge of drug addiction and measures being taken to address substance abuse in J&K.

According to the Health and Medical Education Department, the government has adopted a multi-pronged strategy combining prevention, awareness, enforcement, treatment and rehabilitation to tackle drug abuse.
