Srinagar, Sept. 22 -- Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday instructed concerned departments to fast-track flood damage assessments and expedite restoration works following heavy rains across the region.
The recent downpour triggered flash floods in rivers and drains, along with landslides and traffic disruptions in several districts. On September 18, the Chief Minister had noted that the floods caused widespread damage to public infrastructure, including 330 bridges and 1,500 km of roads, and destroyed private properties such as homes and agricultural fields.
