Srinagar, Sept. 29 -- Srinagar - In a rare confrontation between the bureaucracy and an elected legislature, Jammu and Kashmir's top officials reportedly stepped into the Assembly's business, urging that a resolution seeking restoration of statehood not be taken up.
Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo and Law Secretary Achal Sethi sent separate communications to the Assembly Secretariat, arguing that the issue was sub judice and should therefore not be discussed in the House, according to an NDTV report. The letters came three days after Chief Minister Omar Abdullah moved the resolution, which was subsequently admitted by the Assembly.
