Srinagar, April 24 -- Srinagar-The Jammu and Kashmir Government has begun drafting rules for the implementation of The Jammu and Kashmir Private Universities Act, 2026.

Sources said that the Government has initiated the exercise of framing rules under the law.

Minister for Education Sakina Masood Ittoo said she has directed that the Rules be framed at the earliest.

"Our government is keen that more and more private universities should be established in Jammu & Kashmir, given that we have a limited number of public universities here," she said
