Srinagar, Aug. 23 -- Jammu- Heavy rains lashed Jammu and adjoining areas on Sunday, disrupting normal life, causing widespread waterlogging and triggering a mudslide that blocked the Jammu-Kishtwar National Highway, officials said.

An abandoned house collapsed at Shaheedi Chowk in the heart of Jammu around 7.30 am amid heavy rainfall. The structure belonged to Rajni Salotra, who had shifted with her family to rented accommodation a few months ago after cracks developed in the old building.

The collapse damaged household items, but no casualties were reported.

Residents said the incident could have caused casualties as the lane is densely populated and witnesses regular movement. However, there was little movement at the time as people ...
