Srinagar, July 22 -- Srinagar- At least five people were killed, key highways were shut, rivers and streams swelled dangerously, and widespread damage was reported across Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday as incessant rainfall triggered flash floods, landslides and waterlogging, prompting authorities to intensify rescue operations and issue fresh flood advisories.

While the worst impact was reported from the Jammu region, officials maintained that there was no immediate flood threat from the Jhelum in the Kashmir Valley, with the river continuing to flow well below the warning and danger levels.

According to officials, two people died in Ramban district after a Tempo Traveller was struck by falling stones at Gangroo along the highway.
