Srinagar, July 18 -- Srinagar- The Gulmarg Development Authority (GDA) on Friday warned stakeholders at famous tourist destination Drung in Tangmarg against the use of polythene and plastic, stating that strict action will be taken against those violating the ban.

GDA Chief Executive Officer Tariq Hussain said that protecting the natural ecosystem of Drung is essential for sustaining tourism and the livelihoods of people dependent on the destination.

The CEO said the water body at Drung caters to several habitations and any form of pollution can have long term consequences for the environment and local communities.
