Srinagar, July 21 -- Srinagar- Fresh spells of torrential rain battered Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, triggering flash floods, overflowing rivers and streams, inundating homes and markets, sweeping away shops and vehicles, and disrupting road connectivity as authorities continued large-scale rescue and restoration operations across the Union Territory.

With at least 23 people dead and seven still missing in rain-related incidents since Sunday, the administration remained on high alert as the Meteorological Department warned of more heavy rainfall till July 23.
