FDA Cracks Down on Unsafe Ghee, Mislabelled Meat
Srinagar, July 31 -- Srinagar- The Food and Drugs Administration (FDA), Jammu and Kashmir, has launched enforcement action after four ghee brands were declared unsafe by the National Food Laboratory, Ghaziabad, seizing stocks worth over Rs.15 lakh and prohibiting the sale of the affected batches.
The action follows laboratory reports that found samples of Dairy Mohan, Apna Dairy Milk, Sahi Taj and Milk Bite ghee unsafe for consumption.
Based on the findings, the Designated Officer, Food Safety, Anantnag, seized 1,250 litres of ghee belonging to the affected batch numbers, valued at around Rs.4.88 lakh, and issued a prohibition order under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
