Cop On Amarnath Yatra Duty Shot Dead In Anantnag
Srinagar, July 22 -- Srinagar- In the first terror attack targeting police personnel in the Kashmir Valley this year, a lone terrorist, believed to be a Pakistani national, shot dead a Jammu and Kashmir Police head constable deployed on Amarnath Yatra security duty in South Kashmir's Anantnag town on Wednesday, triggering a massive anti-terror operation and a Valley-wide crackdown in which nearly 2,000 suspected overground workers (OGWs) were detained for questioning.
The attack on Head Constable Ashiq Hussain Qureshi took place around 12.30 pm near Lal Chowk in Anantnag.
