CM Omar Warns SIR Could Interfere With J&K Polls
India, Oct. 7 -- Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday expressed apprehension that the proposed Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls could be used to interfere with elections in Jammu and Kashmir, alleging that the earlier delimitation exercise had been carried out to benefit the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a function in Srinagar, Omar said the SIR could potentially be used in Jammu and Kashmir similarly to the delimitation exercise.
"There is a possibility that the SIR could be used in J&K in a manner similar to what had happened during the delimitation exercise. We have already been victims of this game. We have not forgotten the delimitation," he said.
