Cloudburst, Flooding Disrupt Life Across J&K Parts
Srinagar, Aug. 1 -- Srinagar- Heavy rainfall triggered flooding and flash floods in parts of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, inundating residential areas in Shopian district and causing extensive damage to property in Kishtwar following a cloudburst, while authorities closed schools in parts of the Chenab Valley and warned of more intense weather in the coming days.
In south Kashmir's Shopian district, rainwater entered several houses and a school in Pahlipora village after incessant rainfall, disrupting normal life and prompting an emergency response by the police, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the district administration.
Rescue teams were rushed to the affected locality and launched evacuation and relief operations.
