Srinagar, July 13 -- Srinagar- A court in Anantnag has convicted a man for illegally possessing and transporting codeine phosphate cough syrup, holding that the prosecution successfully established the charge beyond reasonable doubt.

The Special Court designated under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, Imran Hussain, convicted the accused-Ubaid Amin Bhat, a resident of Kanelwan, in FIR No. 81/2023 registered at Police Station Srigufwara for the offence punishable under Section 8 read with Section 22(c) of the NDPS Act, 1985. However, the court acquitted him of offences under Sections 3/181 and 207 of the Motor Vehicles Act.
