Srinagar, July 23 -- Srinagar- Security forces have detained more than 3,500 persons across Kashmir as part of an intensified crackdown to trace the terrorist who shot dead a police official in south Kashmir's Anantnag district a day earlier, officials said on Thursday.

A senior police official said anti-terror operations were in full swing across the Valley following Wednesday's attack in Anantnag.

"So far, more than 3,500 suspects have been detained for questioning following the terror attack in Anantnag yesterday," the official said.

He said mobile vehicle checkpoints had been established at various locations to prevent the assailant and any accomplices from escaping.
