India, Oct. 29 -- The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Thursday clarified the examination structure for the 2028 Class 10 board examinations, stating that students will have five compulsory subjects and can opt for an additional skill subject that may help them clear the examination if they fail in mathematics, science or social science.

The clarification applies to students currently studying in Class 9 during the 2026-27 academic session, who will appear for their Class 10 board examinations in 2028. It does not affect the current Class 10 batch.
