150 Bangladeshis Being Deported From J&K: Govt
India, Oct. 5 -- Around 150 Bangladeshi nationals allegedly staying illegally in Jammu and Kashmir were shifted to West Bengal on Monday as part of the deportation process, officials said.
The officials said an administrative survey conducted with the assistance of Jammu and Kashmir Police across the Kashmir Valley identified around 600 Bangladeshi nationals allegedly staying illegally in the region.
Those identified were kept at a camp manned by Srinagar Police before being transported to Bagdogra for their eventual deportation to Bangladesh, they said.
On Monday, a batch of 150 people was flown to Bagdogra on a special Indian Air Force aircraft, where they were handed over to Border Security Force personnel, according to officials.
