Srinagar, Aug. 18 -- The seizures - described by officials as "unfit for human consumption" - were reportedly being transported from outside the Valley to local markets. While the consignment was destroyed, locals allege that the crackdown ends with seizures alone, with no deterrent action against those behind the racket.Questions are also being raised about why such large consignments repeatedly enter Kashmir without strict checks or accountability.

While two individuals have been booked so far, the scandal hasdealt a heavy blow to the local food industry.
