Srinagar, July 31 -- Clearly, Kashmir is seeing a food safety breakdown. From street vendors to popular restaurants, hygiene has slipped into the background. The rush to meet growing demand, especially from tourists, has outpaced the system meant to regulate it. Walk through any bazaar and it's clear: the basics are being ignored.
Meat hangs in the open under dusty tarpaulins. Raw chicken lies uncovered, feet from open drains. Sweet trays are left exposed to flies. Food is sold near garbage dumps. Vendors touch raw and cooked items without washing hands. None of this is rare. It's the daily scene.
