India, March 13 -- National Conference president Farooq Abdullah on Friday expressed concern over the ongoing conflict in West Asia, stating that the closure of the Strait of Hormuz has led to a shortage of fuel and gas in domestic markets.
Speaking after offering Juma'atul Vida prayers at the Hazratbal shrine here, the former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister said, "The shortage of fuel and gas is due to the war that is going on. Let us hope and pray that this war ends soon."
Dr Farooq Abdullah also voiced concern over what he described as attempts by certain elements to defame Islam. "Some forces are trying to destroy Islam. May Allah destroy them," he said.
