MUMBAI, Aug. 2 -- A final-year IIT-Bombay student from the Department of Metallurgical Engineering and Material Science died after falling from the terrace of Hostel 17 around 1 am Saturday, police confirmed.

Campus officials said the student was reportedly under the influence of alcohol at the time. No suicide note was found. An accidental death report has been filed, and the body was sent for post-mortem.

The student hailed from Delhi. His family has been informed, and police say they were alerted by the institute.
