Srinagar, April 22 -- Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Akshay Labroo on Wednesday urged people to adopt rooftop solar systems under the PM Surya Muft Bijli Yojana, saying the initiative is already benefiting thousands of households in the district.
Speaking to reporters, Labroo said around 5,000 consumers in Srinagar have installed rooftop solar panels and are witnessing a significant reduction in their electricity bills.
He said the scheme not only helps households cut costs but also contributes positively to the environment by promoting clean energy.
Citing an example, the Deputy Commissioner said a consumer whose monthly electricity bill was around Rs.1,500 is now paying nearly Rs.400 after installing rooftop solar panels.
