Srinagar, Sept. 23 -- The Jammu and Kashmir Cabinet on Wednesday recommended to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha that the Legislative Assembly be convened on October 13.

The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and attended by all ministers.

Cabinet Minister Javed Ahmad Dar said the government has proposed that the autumn session may continue for about a week, concluding around October 20. "We have forwarded the recommendation to the Lieutenant Governor, and hopefully the session will last for a week," Dar said.

Assembly Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather, however, said he had not yet received any official communication. "Once the notification reaches my office, further proceedings will be initiated," he said....
