Nigeria, Feb. 27 -- President Bola Tinubu has appointed Tunji Disu as the new Inspector-General of Police following the removal of Kayode Egbetokun from office.

Disu, who was serving as an Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG), takes over the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force after Egbetokun was directed to resign.

Sources indicated that the President asked Egbetokun to step down during a meeting held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Monday.

Egbetokun was appointed as the 22nd Inspector-General of Police by

Tinubu on June 19, 2023, with his substantive appointment later confirmed by the Nigeria Police Council on October 31, 2023.
