Nigeria, Aug. 2 -- Omoyele Sowore, the former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) and human rights activist has been summoned by the Nigerian police over allegations bordering on forgery and inciting disturbance.

It would be recalled that the Sahara Reporters' publisher had alleged that one of police's plain-clothed personnel stole his Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses during a protest in support of police retirees at the Police Headquarters in Abuja.

According to a letter dated 1st August, 2025, and signed by Head, IGP Monitoring Unit, Nigeria Police Force Headquarters, DCP Akin Fakorede, police said they were investigating the allegations made on 31st July, 2025, where Sowore's name featured prominently, citing Section 5...
