Nigeria, Sept. 27 -- The Kwara State Police Command has intercepted a large consignment of cannabis concealed under tubers of yam and arrested suspected kidnappers in a major security breakthrough.
The operation, carried out on September 26, 2025, around 4:00 p.m. along the Babanla-Oreke-Oke-Ode axis, was a joint effort of the police, operatives of the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA), the Nigeria Forest Security Service (NFSS), and local vigilantes.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the team intercepted a vehicle loaded with yams but discovered 127 bags of substances suspected to be cannabis hidden underneath.
