Nigeria, Oct. 5 -- One person has died after a commercial bus conveying 21 passengers caught fire following a road crash along the Oko-Olowo Expressway, Iye-Maja Junction, Ilorin.

The Kwara State Fire Service said the incident occurred on Sunday, October 4, 2026, after the bus, with registration number DTH840SA, reportedly suffered a punctured tyre while in motion.

According to the agency, the driver subsequently lost control of the vehicle, causing it to somersault before catching fire.

The Fire Service said it received the distress call and arrived at the scene at about 6:35pm, where firefighters evacuated the passengers and commenced emergency operations.
