Nigeria, Aug. 20 -- The Ilorin Central Jum'mat Mosque has begun operating an ultramodern solar-powered mini-grid system, a development set to revolutionize energy use at the historic place of worship.
The project, which also benefits parts of the Ilorin palace and the wider Muslim community, was facilitated by Senator Saliu Mustapha, representing Kwara Central Senatorial District.
According to a statement signed on Wednesday by Alhaji Sheu Gafar, Danmadami of Ilorin Emirate and Chairman of the Central Working Committee of the mosque, the installation is part of a broader effort to modernize mosque operations and reduce reliance on conventional electricity.
