Nigeria, July 24 -- The Senate on Thursday, announced its its annual long recess, adjourning plenary sessions until Tuesday, September 23, 2025.

Senator Godswill Akpabio, President of the Senate, announced the break following the adoption of a motion by the Leader of the Red Chamber, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele (APC Ekiti Central), during a brief session.

Akpabio emphasized that the lawmakers are not completely off duty during this period. "You are expected to continue with your oversight functions over various ministries, departments, and agencies, especially projects being executed in your constituencies across the country," he stated.
