Bangladesh, Aug. 23 -- Two youths have been detained in connection with the killing of a retired schoolteacher, his wife and their two children in Rangpur, police said on Sunday.

The detainees are Mugdha Das, 23, son of Kanu Das of Machuapara area, and Siddhartha Das, 19, son of Binoy Chandra Das, as per local media reports.

Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Abdul Mabud said at a press briefing that the four were allegedly killed after they objected to the two suspects' drug use.

According to police, Siddhartha and Mugdha were taking drugs and socialising on the roof of Ganapati Chakraborty Jewel's under-construction house late on August 20. After the retired teacher saw them, they allegedly strangled him.
