Dhaka, April 27 -- A trader has died after a Banyan tree collapsed onto a shop during a nor'wester storm in Gabtali upazila of Bogura district.

The deceased, 52-year-old Uma Chandra, hailed from Chakradhika Paschim Para village in Gabtali, reports bdnews24.com

The incident took place around 4:30 am on Monday in Lathiganj Bazar of Sukhanpukur Union, said Model Police Station chief Rakib Hasan.

Citing locals, police official Rakib said: "When the Nor'wester storm began early in the morning, a Banyan tree next to Uma Chandra's shop fell onto it. He died on the spot."

"When informed, Fire Service personnel arrived at the scene and cut the branches of the fallen tree to begin recovery of the body."
