Dhaka, Aug. 18 -- The government has appointed Md Sarwoer Alam as the new deputy commissioner (DC) of Sylhet district.

The Ministry of Public Administration issued a gazette notification in this regard on Monday, reports BSS.

Prior to the appointment, Md Sarwoer Alam had been serving as deputy secretary (attached) to the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment, it added.

The order, issued in the public interest, will come into immediate effect.
