Dhaka, July 29 -- A fishing trawler named 'FB Sagorkonna' sank in the Bay of Bengal near Kuakata, leaving six fishermen missing, while nine others were rescued after drifting at sea for four days.

The missing fishermen were identified as Abdur Rashid, Nazrul Islam, Rafique, Idris, Harun, and Kalam.

The incident occurred last Friday around 10:00 am, approximately 75 kilometres deep into the sea beyond the last buoy.

The trawler had left from Mohipur earlier that morning with 15 crew members on board, led by Abdur Rashid Majhi.

According to the rescued fishermen, after casting nets into the sea, the vessel was caught in a sudden storm with rough waves, causing the trawler to break apart and sink.
