Dhaka, June 4 -- A Dhaka court on Thursday fixed June 7 for the verdict in the rape and murder case of child Ramisa Akter after hearing final arguments from both sides.

Judge Masrur Saleqin of the Dhaka Metropolitan Tribunal for the Prevention of Violence Against Children set the date after concluding the hearing, according to local media reports.

The two accused, Sohel Rana and his wife, Swapna Akter, were brought to court from prison. Extra police were deployed around the court premises.

During earlier hearings, the tribunal reviewed witness statements, video footage and forensic evidence. Prosecutors said the evidence linked Sohel Rana to the crime and accused Swapna Akter of helping him evade arrest.
