Dhaka, March 3 -- Dwellers of Dhaka city got much-needed relief from the scorching heat on Monday as rain pelted the capital, bringing down temperatures and easing the discomfort caused by the recent heatwave.

The sudden showers, accompanied by gusty winds, cooled the streets and offered respite to residents who had been struggling with high humidity and soaring temperatures over the past few days.

Rainfall was reported in several areas of the city, including Badda, Agargaon, Khilgaon, Moghbazar, Malibagh, Shahjahanpur, Kamalapur and Farmgate.

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) predicted rain or thundershowers at one or two places over the Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions in the 24 hours from 6:00am ...
