Bangladesh, Sept. 23 -- A proposal has been made to amend the Consumer Rights Protection Act 2009 to include digital commerce in it to prevent online fraud as the sector is not explicitly covered by the existing law although online fraud is on the rise, said Director- General of the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) Md Zahirul Islam.

Advertisement He said the DNCRP takes action when specific evidence is found in complaints related to online transactions. However, action is not possible in many cases due to a lack of sufficient evidence.

He made the remarks at a workshop on the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009, held at DNCRP office in the capital on Tuesday.
