Dhaka, Feb. 7 -- A convicted prisoner died at Kushtia District Jail early Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Bidyut Ali, 27, son of Chaddu Ali of Bheramara upazila.

Kushtia Jail Super Shariful Alam said Bidyut was sent to jail about two months ago after being convicted in a drug-related case.

Initially, it is known that Bidyut committed suicide by hanging himself from the grill of a prison bathroom window early Saturday, reports UNB.

Later, he was taken to Kushtia General Hospital, where the doctors said he was brought dead.

The actual cause of death will be known after receiving the postmortem report, said resident medical officer of the hospital, Dr Hossain Imam.
