Bangladesh, Sept. 5 -- Prices of a number of essential commodities, particularly vegetables and onions, declined in city retail markets in a week, while the edible oil market continued to face a supply crunch despite a Tk 5.0 per litre hike in the price of bottled soybean oil.

Advertisement The supply shortage of bottled soybean oil has persisted for several weeks which refiners attributed to the higher international prices which, as per their demand, should be adjusted.

The situation has not improved even after the Commerce Ministry approved an increase in the retail price of bottled soybean oil last week by Tk 5.0 a litre, as new MRP has been set at Tk 204 per litre.
