Dhaka, March 21 -- President Mohammed Shahabuddin and Prime Minister Tareq Rahman offered Eid-ul-Fitr prayers together at the National Eidgah ground on Saturday morning, marking a rare and historic moment after 36 years.

The main congregation of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr was held at the National Eidgah around 8:30am, drawing thousands of worshippers from across the capital.

The presence of both the head of state and the head of government at the same congregation created a significant and symbolic occasion.

Officials said the joint participation of the President and the Prime Minister reflects a message of unity and harmony, resonating with the spirit of Eid, which emphasises compassion, solidarity and togetherness.
