Dhaka, Feb. 24 -- Bangladesh reaffirms its commitment to the "One China" policy and pledges to deepen strategic ties with Beijing as the country's new prime minister moves to consolidate key foreign relationships following his inauguration.

Tarique Rahman made the remarks during a meeting in Dhaka with Yao Wen, China's ambassador in Bangladesh, where the two sides exchanged what officials described as in-depth views on bilateral relations and regional and international issues of shared interest.

According to a spokesperson for the Chinese embassy, Rahman thanked the ambassador for his congratulations and for conveying the best wishes of Chinese leaders.
