Dhaka, Oct. 11 -- Nearly one in three child marriages ends up in divorce, often pushing children and young women towards facing stigma and financial hardship, according to a study conducted on the occasion of the International Day of Girl.
Plan International has conducted the study through interviewing girls and young women in 15 countries, including Bangladesh. It has also found that 35 per cent of the respondents have left school after marriage, and are forced to be mother. Some 63 per cent of the respondents are not involved in any education, employment or training.
Globally, 12 million girls are married each year before their 18th birthday, despite the practice being illegal in most countries. Plan International's State of the World...
