Dhaka, Feb. 8 -- The Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC) to develop an international legally binding instrument on plastic pollution, including in the marine environment, today (Sunday) elected Ambassador Julio Cordan, of Chile, as the next INC Chair during the third part of the fifth session (INC-5.3).
The INC process was launched in March 2022 at the resumed fifth session of the UN Environment Assembly (UNEA-5.2), where Member States adopted a historic resolution to develop an international legally binding instrument on plastic pollution, including in the marine environment, said a UNEP press release.
