NBR suspends bond facility for yarn imports, BGMEA, BKMEA protest
Bangladesh, Sept. 8 -- The National Board of Revenue (NBR) is bringing major changes to duty-free yarn imports under the bond facility for export-oriented garment factories.

Under the new decision, imports of 10-30 count cotton yarn under the bond facility have been suspended. However, exporters will be able to continue importing this yarn subject to a bank guarantee.
On Monday, NBR published a general order signed by its Second Secretary (Customs: Export and Bond), Kazi Raihanuzzaman.
Under the new conditional process, the bank guarantee will be released once export proceeds are repatriated. To obtain this release, submission of a certificate from the relevant trade body -- BGMEA, BKMEA or BTMA -- has been made mandator...
