Dhaka, July 28 -- Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Meghna Bank PLC Kazi Ahsan Khalil has resigned from his position.
He submitted his resignation letter on Sunday, with a copy forwarded to the central bank, a senior official of the fourth-generation private commercial bank told The Financial Express.
Mr Khalil said he felt uncomfortable with the observations and opinions expressed by the bank's newly reconstituted board during its meeting on Thursday.
"The board also suddenly decided to send me on leave without giving any reasons," he said, without elaborating further. Mr Khalil joined Meghna Bank in April last year on a three-year contract.
