Bangladesh, Aug. 1 -- MA Khan Belal was elected chairman of the board of directors of Mercantile Bank PLC at the bank's 490th board meeting held at its head office in Dhaka on Thursday (July 30).

Advertisement Before being elected chairman, Mr Belal served as the chairman of the bank's executive committee, according to a press release Saturday.

With broad experience in trade, industry, shipping and banking, Mr Belal has established several companies in Bangladesh and currently serves as chairman of the Samrat Group of Companies.

He is also the president of the Noakhali Zilla Samiti.
