Bangladesh, Oct. 22 -- Severe erosion in the Kushiyara and Padma rivers engulfed a vast amount of homes, arable lands and public property in Habiganj's Nabiganj, Sunamganj and Kushtia's Bheramara.

Meanwhile, hundreds of farmers in Roumari upazila of Kurigram are facing despair as the Brahmaputra River has swallowed their cropland just as paddy plants began producing panicles, forcing many to settle for half-ripe crops in a desperate attempt to salvage something from their losses or minimise them.

In Habiganj, erosion claimed cropland, homes of more than 50 families, and a high school in Dighalbak, Aushkandi, and Inatganj Unions of Nabiganj over the past few days.
