Dhaka, Aug. 3 -- Khokon Chandra Barman, a survivor of police brutality during the July 2024 uprising, became the first witness to testify against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the International Crimes Tribunal.

Khokon, whose face was severely disfigured by police gunfire-losing his left eye, nose, and part of his mouth-recounted his harrowing experience, according to local media.

Testifying on Sunday, he blamed Sheikh Hasina, former minister Obaidul Quader (whom he repeatedly called "Kaua Quader"), former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, ex-MP Shamim Osman, and ex-IGP Abdullah Al Mamun for the violence.

Khokon described witnessing mass killings near Jatrabari Police Station on August 5, 2024.
