Dhaka, March 20 -- Leader of the Opposition Shafiqur Rahman has greeted the people on Eid-ul-Fitr, wishing them happiness, peace, prosperity, good health and a safe life in the country "free from discrimination".

Extending the greetings both personally and on his party Jamaat-e-Islami's behalf on Friday, he said the Eid has arrived with a message of joy after the month-long fasting, bdnews24.com reports.

"The nation is celebrating the holy Eid-ul-Fitr after the national elections held in the country in a fascism-free environment, with a new government formed. A long-standing undemocratic and oppressive government has fallen," he said.
