Dhaka, Oct. 22 -- Local Government Advisor Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain has said Savar merged with Ashulia will be elevated to a city corporation, while Keraniganj will be upgraded to a 'Class A' municipality.

He said this in a Facebook post on Tuesday, reports bdnews24.com.

He wrote, "The government has taken a policy decision to merge Savar Municipality and Ashulia Union into Savar City Corporation and to upgrade Keraniganj as a 'Class A' municipality, under the jurisdiction of South City Corporation."

Savar is an Upazila in Dhaka district, and Ashulia is a union within Savar.

If approved, Savar will become the country's 13th city corporation, joining Dhaka North, Dhaka South, Chattogram, Rajshahi, Khulna, Sylhet, Barishal, Rangpur, C...
